Electromagnetic Compatibility or EMC

Electromagnetic Compatibility or EMC is the ability of an electrical or electronic device to function as intended to in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbances to other electrical or electronic devices in that same environment. Seal certificate for any electrical or electronic equipment sold in the U.S. since 01/01/96. Indicates the electromagnetic compatibility of the devices.

LabOne’s EMC test facilities are well designed and layout to ensure enough working space and comfortable working environment for our staff and customer. The EMC Directive states that most electrical and electronic products made or sold in Europe must:

  • Be so constructed that they do not cause excessive electromagnetic interference and are not duly affected by electromagnetic interference.
  • Carry CE Marking.

The Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive is a CE marking Directive, but it differs from all other Directives in that its primary requirement is the protection of the electromagnetic spectrum, rather than the safety of the equipment. The vast majority of electrical products must comply, whether battery or mains powered. Exceptions include, but are not limited to, components and sub assemblies with no intrinsic function and products already covered by other specific Directives such as medical, military, automotive, some agricultural, transmitting and communications equipment.
