HDTV
High Definition Television, format that offers high resolution with respect to the standards NTSC, PAL and SECAM. Usually the current formats of HDTV with a resolution between 655 and 1125 lines, with a 16:9 aspect and a bandwidth of 30 to 50 MHz.
HDTV Ready (Ready for HDTV):
Term used to describe a TV that can display formats for digital high-definition TV when connected to a separate HDTV tuner. These usually have TV tuners built to receive regular transmissions of NTSC, but not digital. In a TV ready for HDTV also can call it an "HDTV monitor."
HDTV Ready must be following video inputs must be available:
- HD video inputs (HD = High Definition):
- o Analogue: YUV (YPbPr), also termed component video
- o Digital: DVI or HDMI (with HDCP copy protection)
- The HD video inputs must be able to process these formats:
- 1280 x 720 at 50Hz and 60Hz progressive ("720p")
- 1920 x 1080 at 50Hz and 60Hz interlaced ("1080i")
- The DVI and HDMI digital inputs must support HDCP copy protection

When considering a projector, be sure tha it has the proper connections for the device that will be the source of the media presented. You want to have hookups for computers, TV, etcetera. If you are planning on a home entertainment system, you might want to make sure that the projector is HDTV ready, so that high definition images can be used.
