Hot Spot

Hot spots are areas of a screen’s surface that reflect projected light more than surrounding areas on the screen. They can result in an uneven picture that seems too harsh in some areas of the image, and are most noticeable when viewing the image from the periphery of the screen. Hot spots can be prevented by proper screen selection, brightness controls, and seat placement.

It is generally observed at high gain screens and screens designed for slide projections. A hot spot is a circular area where the picture is brighter than in the rest of the screen, usually in the center of the screen.

Do not handle the lamp without gloves. Oils and deposits from hands and fingers can cause hot spots, which may result in premature lamp failure.
